Poisonous spider bites are increasing in the UK from the Noble False Widow πŸ•·οΈ Bites aren’t deadly – unlike its lookalike the Black Widow, but have caused school closures and even cardiac arrests.

The False Widow doesn’t drink water – instead thriving from the liquid inside its prey – which it wraps (alive) in a silky threadπŸ•ΈοΈbefore immobilising it with its venom.

The False Widow usually bites humans after being trapped in bedding while the victim is asleep πŸ˜΄πŸ›Œ

Authorities encourage people to take a photo of the spider as soon as possible after being bitten to enable identification πŸ“· Here at Death & Disease we aren’t sure this would be the first thing on our mind after being woken in intense pain!

Thank you to Brenda Avery for the photo of a False Widow in Hampshire
