A man was attached to an electroencephalogram โ€“ a device that records brain activity โ€“ during a project to study epilepsy.

Sadly, during the study โ€“ published in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience, the man had a sudden heart attack and diedโšฐ๏ธ
Data was collected during his death โ€“ and showed that 30 seconds either side of his final heartbeat, there was an increase in gamma waves โ€“ a type of brain wave associated with dreams and memories๐Ÿ’ญ

It has led some scientists to argue that life really does flash before our eyes before we die.
